About the Opportunity:


Under the direction of the Assistant Manager and in consultation with medical staff, the Referral Officer is responsible for receiving and processing referrals directed to the QEII Cancer Centre.

The Referral Officer uses a variety of patient information systems and collaborates with supporting departments, to complete all stages of the process from receipt of referral to notification.

The Referral Officer completes data quality audits to ensure referral information is accurate for statistical purposes.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII plus recognized one year administrative/business program
  • Two years related experience working in an ambulatory oncology setting
  • Medical terminology course an asset
  • Experience using ARIA, One Content, Meditech, Millennium, OPIS, SHARE Portal, and STAR preferred
  • Knowledge and education of the clinic referral processes
  • Knowledge of diagnostic testing procedures
  • Knowledge of pathology results
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal in a compassionate and supportive manner with oncology patients
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Long Assignment, Full Time; 70 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 12 months

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $26.24 hourly
