Key Accountabilities:
Qualifications:
- Grade XII plus postsecondary education in a Human Services field
- One year paid or volunteer experience in the Human Services field would be an asset
- Up to date 7 core competencies
- Commitment to social inclusion, inclusive community living, and the Independent Living Philosophy.
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism (complex) with Non-Traditional Communication, PECS, and Social Stories.
- Effective communication in a professional manner at all levels within the organization and an ability to liaise with key partners including; families, professionals, and other agencies to ensure participants are well supported in their daily lives.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- The ability to coach and support cueing to ensure that all daily living and community activities are completed
- Flexibility and availability to days, evenings and weekends
- The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
- Previous knowledge of nonviolent behavior and crisis intervention would be an asset
- Strong organization and record keeping skills.
- Positive ability to work within a team.
- Must have values and skills compatible with the type and level of support required.
- A valid Nova Scotia driver's license & clean driving record
- Proof of Vaccination required
Compensation:
Competitive pay rate $21.79 per hour, PLUS weekend and shift premiums.
Benefits include:
Medical, dental, EAP, RRSP employer contributions. Paid sick and vacation time annual allowance
Other Requirements:
Scheduling is based on a 4-week rotational schedule including evenings, weekends.
