Job Description*_

This is a short-term, temporary contract role for in-person, onsite support at the TED2023: Possibility conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

You may be asked to work some or all of the dates between April 7 and April 21, 2023.

The successful applicant will be responsible for any travel, accommodation and meal costs._*As a Conference Badge Design Assistant your main role is creating and printing attendee name badges, using InDesign templates, badge printers and the tools and resources provided by TED to ensure each name badge meets TED's quality standards.

There will be two Conference Badge Design Assistants and you will support one another in the production of 2000+ badges.

You should be comfortable executing tasks in high pressure situations. You're self-motivated and comfortable working with mínimal oversight. You have an eye for detail and work well under time pressure.


Additionally, you may also act as the first point of contact welcoming each attendee to the conference and providing a warm check-in experience.

Prior customer service experience is an asset but not required.

This position involves lifting up to 30lbs.


Responsibilities:


  • Edit and merge name badge data into InDesign templates
  • Organize and catalog folders consisting of attendee info
  • Troubleshoot badge printer errors as they come up
  • Assemble name badges along with collateral and lanyards
  • Manage and handle confidential materials and information
  • Perform daily opening and closing duties, including setting up the checkin backroom

Qualifications:


  • Computer savvy and fast learner of computer software programs and phone apps
  • Basic knowledge and proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus
  • Able to meet tight deadlines in a short turnaround time and remain calm under pressure
  • Detailoriented with strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable troubleshooting hardware and software including printers and other specialized equipment
  • Selfmotivated, able to work independently
  • Effective, resourceful problem solver
  • Fluent in English
