Kitchen Supervisor - Edmonton, Canada - Excel Society
Description
This position reports to the Director of Care and is responsible for providing high quality food to Designated Assisted Living (DAL) Site residents according to the dietary guidelines and recipes through LTC Group purchasing and the resident's care plan.
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for supervision of food services cooks and dietary aides.Specific Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring individuals receive high quality nutritious foods according to their monthly care plan.
2. Adhering to the Alberta Health Standards Food Retail and Foodservices Code and Alberta Health Standards and Serving Safer Food Guide at all times.
3. Implementing all processes and teaching staff as required such as updated policies, procedures, directives, public health orders, etc.
4. Liaising with immediate supervisor, to inform, consult, and problem-solve regarding any serious problems/concerns encountered in providing service.
5. Equipment performance monitoring and able to demonstrate use of new equipment.
6. Inventory management and have a keen eye on Budgeting and maintaining food cost at par level.
7. Ability to coach and mentor other staff.
8. Ensuring food temperatures are checked and recorded on established forms.
9. Ensuring the areas surrounding the kitchen are clean and maintained according to Public Health standards.
10. Setting schedules for kitchen staff at Designated Assisted Living (DAL) sites.
11. Coaching, providing performance management, and performance appraisals to staff in collaboration with the Director of Care.
Requirements:
1. Graduation from a recognized Culinary Arts Program, with completion of a Journeyman's certificate in professional cooking, and Interprovincial Red Seal.
2. Maintain certification in First Aid, and CPR.
3. Knowledge and experience working with clients who have mental and or physical disabilities, and or addictions.
4. Good leadership qualities and experience with developing and leading a culinary team.
5. Proven planning and organizational skills.
6. Effective communication and people skills.
7. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
8. Satisfactory criminal record check.
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Salary:
$21.00-$24.00 per hour
