This position independently manages short-term and long-term disability claim rehabilitation files that are complex in nature.

This involves meeting in person/virtually with claimants, employers, third party treatment providers and physicians in assessing disability claims for rehabilitation potential and developing rehabilitation plans, including determining appropriate interventions required to reduce claim durations.

This position also determines the cost/ benefit of rehabilitation interventions and authorizes intervention programs.


How you will create impact:


  • Requesting medical information, arrange assessments with other professional consultations to assist with developing rehab plans.
  • Triaging claims to assess rehabilitation potential and to assist in the development and management of case management plans.
  • Communicating with claimants, employers and physicians regularly by telephone or in person to address issues and implement treatment plans.
  • Regularly updating disability case mangers on rehabilitation activities, anticipated durations and any potential concerns.
  • Establishing a rapport with employers and treatment providers for purposes of accommodation and reduced fees for treatment.
  • Supporting claimants, physicians, treatment providers and employers to facilitate rehabilitation interventions.
  • Contracting vendors for longdistance claimants (including directing activities, reviewing reports, and monitoring tasks/expenses).
  • Maintaining complete documentation of phone conversations, management plans, medical reviews, Disability Claims Manager discussions, return to work sheets, etc. for all files.

To join our team:


  • You have 25 years related experience in rehabilitation case management or consulting experience.
  • Postsecondary diploma in Nursing, Psychology, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Having or willing to work towards the Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CCRC), Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CRC), Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP), Canadian Disability Management Professional (CCVE), Canadian Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or other related designations are an asset.

  • This role involves direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.
