HOW YOU'LL MAKE A HUGE IMPACT HERE - AND ON YOUR CAREER:
As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial part in protecting Versapay from financial and regulatory risks.

You will work closely with Account Executives, third party processors, Customer Care and Transactional Monitoring in order to control the risk assessment for Versapay.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical and financial minded individual looking to further their experience in the payments industry.

Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, you will handle KYC review of clients as well as determine their credit worthiness.

To accomplish this, you'll need a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience in Underwriting and financial analysis. Must have experience in Commercial Underwriting and prefer experience in Payments Industry.

What you'll do:

-
Organize for action: Work with the sales organization on obtaining and assembling the necessary underwriting documentation needed for quick decision-making.
-
Partner and support:Limit endless amounts of back-and-forth communication with prospects or client's endless iterations by developing a "one client touch" approach.
-
Deep analysis:Follow defined procedures to conduct moderate to complex risk analysis (with exposure to highly detailed business credit decisioning) while developing a broader risk portfolio of understanding within your team.
-
Support team development: Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring new underwriting team members in both the e-commerce (CNP) and card present (retail or terminal-based) decisioning.
-
Source and solve problems:Help identify operational or procedural gaps and provide recommendations for improvement.
-
Attend to details:Process and analyze documents with a keen eye for Know Your Customer (KYC) and process management.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Tools/platform experience: Sourcing and using relevant third-party industry risk management tools such as Lexis / Nexis, G2, EverCompliant, Thompson-Reuters, etc.
-
Financial know-how: Reading and reviewing financial statements, and being able to interpret balance sheets and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
-
Expertise in the fine print: Knowledge of United States treasury rules related to AML, KYC, and OFAC / sanctions screening, NACHA rules, and underwriting qualifications for ACH transactions.
-
Payments familiarity: Basic understanding of PCI DSS and card brand rules (VISA, MasterCard, and AMEX), along with relevant processor and sponsor bank exposure.
-
Integrity: Ability to work in a highly regulated industry; with strict adherence to customer privacy, regulatory requirements, and the highest ethical standards.
-
Communication:Able to adapt to your audience to convey complex ideas in a clear way.
-
Ownership: Naturally curious and driven to own the many responsibilities of an underwriter.

  • 2+ years of experience in credit underwriting; preferably with a businesstobusiness (b2b) payment industry focusing on enterprise level clients
