JOB OVERVIEW:
Manager, International Agent Relations and Performance Management

This role reports to the Director, International Recruitment, Admissions and Articulation. Reporting directly to this position is a team of International Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator and International Support Assistant.


This critical role ensures that the university's agency relationships and engagement strategies align with the strategic priorities of the University, leading to the achievement of KPU's international student enrolment targets.

With agent commissions representing the second largest expenditures for the university, this position plays a critical role in financial management and will collaborate closely with the Finance department.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business, International Relations, Marketing or International Education, required. Master's degree preferred;
  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience with experience in supervising and managing staff. Experience with labour relations in a unionized setting is an asset;
  • Minimum 57 years experience in a recognized postsecondary institution with direct relevant experience in international recruitment and agent relations and partnerships;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience developing and managing contracts and budgets. Experience managing contracts within an international agent portfolio preferred;
  • Or a combination of education and experience.

COMPETENCIES

  • Oral and written fluency in English and a secondary language in one of KPU's target markets is required.
  • Proven ability to be flexible in adapting public speaking/presentation styles to people of different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong analytical skills to recruit agents, assess and improve the performance of the international agent network.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving business practices, processes, and policy for recruiting and managing international agents.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, create comprehensive reports, and draw meaningful insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Familiarity with contract management and compliance in an international context
  • Knowledge of international education trends and best practices. Excellent knowledge of British Columbia's postsecondary education system, as well as world geography, history, politics and current and local affairs.
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian postsecondary admission and registration processes.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, cooperative, and serviceoriented relationships with internal and external clients, including, but not limited to: applicants, agents, faculty, Finance, staff and prospective learners, where diversity of situations and people are routinely encountered.
  • Experience in negotiating agreements in an international setting.
  • Superior ability to make sound decisions by exercising judgment, diplomacy, tact and discretion in a high pressure, high volume environment with changing and conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian immigration policy and procedures related to international students.
  • Advanced level of technical skills with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
  • Demonstrated experience with a student information system or CRM and the ability to learn software programs that may be used at the University.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Minimum of 40 wpm keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel between campuses is required.
