ABOUT US

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Equipment Operator will operate any of the following; back ho, mini ho, and excavator.

When not operating equipment, the Operator will be expected to work with the Labourers to prepare and clean up the construction sites, move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation and compaction activities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the successful completion of excavation projects including, excavating within 1m of a gas pipeline, utility line exposure, debris removal, trenching and digging, excavation of sensitive underground hydro and communication cables.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensure all equipment and components are in good working condition always. Perform pre and post trip inspections, follow company policies and procedures for routine maintenance, perform general housekeeping to ensure units are operating properly. Report any deficiencies to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Experience operating a mini or full size excavator and back hoe
  • Experience working for a gas utility or gas utility contractor is an asset

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Operate heavy equipment safely
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment
  • Read grade plans and use grade stakes in measuring the amount of earth to be moved
  • Follow directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Manual dexterity
  • A safetyconscious attitude
  • The ability to work with others in a team
  • Must be willing to work in remote job locations

  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
$29.31-$44.14 per hour

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Delta, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

Underground Utilities: 1 year (preferred)

  • Excavator: 1 year (preferred)
