We are seeking a Casual Speech-language Pathologist at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC.

Days of work:
Rotating, Days

Shift times: 08:00 to 16:00

What will you work on?

Join a dynamic and dedicated team of caring professionals as an autonomous professional who has expertise in typical development and disorders of communication/swallowing as well as assessment and intervention in these areas.

The Speech-language Pathologist will work directly with clients and/or with their caregivers or other persons who regularly interact with these people for the purpose of creating environments that promote optimal communication and swallowing for adults requiring this care.

The Speech-Language Pathologist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the department/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research and education.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an SLP with experience/preference that will include outpatient and acute care services.

The SLP will have excellent oral and written communication abilities & be able to connect with people from all types of backgrounds.

The SLP will be creative in supporting clients' goals while adhering to program guidelines and will be an active and engaged team member, able to respectfully communicate and resolve conflict in a timely manner.

The thriving City of Vernon is situated in the northern region of BC's Okanagan Valley Basin between the beautiful Swan, Kalamalka and Okanagan lakes.

It boasts a unique history, diversified economy, attractive climate and beautiful natural setting offering residents a highly desirable balance of small-town charm combined with the amenities of an urban centre.

As the largest regional centre in the North Okanagan area, it also serves as a major vacation destination. The area's recreational opportunities are enjoyed by visitors and residents alike and include skiing, golfing, hiking, cycling and more. Vernon is also home to a large and diverse arts community.

Greater Vernon enjoys a wide array of public recreational facilities including an aquatic centre, 7 parks with playing fields and 19 walking trails.

Golfers can take advantage of a season that traditionally runs from March until November and eight major courses within the North Okanagan area.

The Vernon area is a haven for the outdoor enthusiast with ready access to mountains, lakes, rivers and provincial parks.

Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, scuba diving, sailing, water skiing and fishing. Winter pursuits include alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dogsledding and ice fishing.

Located 22 km to the northeast of Vernon is Silver Star Mountain Resort, a world-class ski destination with 108 runs.

Registration as a Speech-language Pathologist with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.

One year's clinical experience with adults in a hospital setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. New grads are also welcome to apply.

Valid BC Driver's license where required.
