Job Description:


We are seeking a motivated, reliable, full-time Receiver/General Labourer to join our metal recycling team from Monday-Friday (7:00am-5:30pm) and a rotating Saturday (8:00am-4:00pm).

You will play a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of our facility and be responsible for assisting in various tasks related to metal recycling, ensuring the smooth flow of materials and contributing to the efficient functioning of the recycling process.

This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a strong work ethic.


Responsibilities:


  • Buying and sorting different types of (nonferrous) materials based on their composition
  • Safely and effectively operate machinery and equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and conveyor belts to facilitate the movement of materials within the facility
  • Inspect incoming materials for contaminants, remove nonrecyclable components, and ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Assist in processing metal materials through cutting, shearing, and shredding equipment to prepare them for recycling
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, track materials using computerized systems, and assist in inventory control procedures
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment
  • Collaborate with team members and the public to meet production targets, communicate effectively, and assist in other tasks as needed

Qualifications:


  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods
  • Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and a loud and dusty environment
  • Keen eye for identifying different types of metals, contaminants, and quality issues to ensure accurate sorting and recycling processes
  • Demonstrated commitment to following safety protocols and procedures to maintain a hazardfree workplace
  • Experience or willingness to learn to operate machinery and equipment relevant to metal recycling processes (e.g., forklifts, cranes, shearing equipment)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within a teamoriented environment
  • Ability to handle a fastpaced work environment, adapt to changing priorities, and perform well under pressure
  • Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Prior experience or knowledge of metal recycling processes, industry standards, and environmental regulations considered an asset
