POSITION TITLE:

Ground Service Equipment Journeyman (Auto)


LOCATION:

Rankin Inlet, NU

Reporting to the GSE Manager, the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Journeyman repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls, preforms services including inspections, oil changes and assists in the maintenance of all Calm Air International light duty, heavy-duty and automotive equipment in all locations as needed.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Complete maintenance and or services on company vehicles and ground equipment; this may include baggage carts, boarding ramps, generators, Gas, Diesel, and Electric GPU's, Bobcats, Cat equipment, Electric, Propane, And Diesel Forklifts, Kubota Tractors, Freightliner fuel trucks, and fuel dispensing systems
  • Diagnose and repair all company equipment safely and according to specifications
  • Troubleshoot to diagnose problems
  • Inspect equipment to ensure safe operation
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper function & performance
  • Maintain proper maintenance reports/documentation inside our maintenance program MTCpro
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on company equipment
  • Repair, adjust, and or replace defective parts as needed
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required
  • Request parts and maintain inventory
  • Travel required to various work sites within Manitoba and Nunavut
  • Onsite field work required
  • Other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK:


  • Applicants must be available to work mornings, afternoons/evenings, and weekends on a rotational basis as per operational requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:


  • Grade 12 or equivalent (GED)
  • Current Heavy-Duty Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic, or comparable Red Seal
  • 35 years of experience
  • Valid class 5 driving license
  • Travel required approximately 50%
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Teams)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Previous experience in heavy duty / automotive / aviation considered an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance pass
  • Preference given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
