illumin is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Lead to manage our small corporate IT department located in Toronto.

As the IT Lead, you will be responsible for providing overall direction and guidance for our corporate IT operations.

This includes overseeing the efficient functioning of our IT systems, managing the relationship with our managed services provider for the service desk, and ensuring the smooth operation of our technology infrastructure.

You will report directly to the Director of Infrastructure & Operations and collaborate closely with other department heads to support illumin's technology needs.


What You Will Do:


Leadership and Strategy

  • Provide strategic guidance and vision for the corporate IT department in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, security, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Infrastructure & Operations to establish longterm technology goals and roadmap for the organization.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements to identify opportunities for technology innovation and improvement.

IT Operations Management

  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the corporate IT department, ensuring smooth functioning of all IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage the relationship with the managed services provider for the service desk, including monitoring service level agreements (SLAs) and ensuring prompt resolution of user issues.
  • Lead a small team of IT professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide timely support and solutions.

Technology Infrastructure

  • Ensure the security and integrity of all IT systems through regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and implementation of appropriate controls.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Infrastructure & Operations to plan and execute technology upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, availability, and scalability to meet business requirements.

Vendor and Budget Management

  • Oversee relationships with some IT vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with agreedupon terms.
  • Manage the IT budget, including cost analysis, forecasting, and expenditure tracking.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and recommend solutions that align with the illumin's technology strategy and budgetary constraints.
IT Support and User Training

  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of user issues, working closely with the service desk team.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance technology skills and awareness among employees.
  • Foster a customercentric approach to IT support, striving to provide exceptional service and user satisfaction.

What You Will Need:


  • Proven experience in a leadership role within corporate IT, preferably in a small to midsized organization.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with managed services models and experience managing relationships with external service providers.
  • Proficient in IT service management (ITSM) frameworks, such as ITIL is a must.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong knowledge of IT related compliance such as SOC2 and/or ISO 27001/
  • Strong problemsolving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions.
  • You may be required to work some evening and weekends, depending on project demands.
  • Define and track metrics on a regular basis related to the performance of the team and team members.
  • Flexibility to work in the office 4 days a week and occasional afterhours availability for critical issues or project implementations.
