Description
Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company including, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, overseeing financial controls and working with FP&A to provide the senior leadership team with information and analysis to support critical decision making.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department
- Oversee and implement proper internal controls to mitigate risk
- Manage the annual operating plan and report on budget variances, assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Review cash flow and purchasing forecasts, accounts receivable reports and authorize payables.
- Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
- Ensure that all financial reporting adheres to ASPE guidelines and that internal controls meet generally accepted auditing principles
- Manage the yearend audit process and relationship with external auditors, analyze results of the audit and develop process improvements based on the results.
- Assess and enhance financial systems, controls and automation to ensure maximum productivity to meet the needs of the business today and in the future
- Responsible for leading a high performing team and developing the organizational structure to execute on the objectives of the Finance team
Required Leadership:
- Must have a strong business acumen, judgement, and professionalism
- Take ownership of the financial reporting process
- Effectively communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with key business partners and the Leadership Team
- Proven ability to set goals and conduct performance evaluations; to train and coach team members including remote workers; and to make decisions regarding the selection and termination of team members.
- Possesses a continuous improvement mindset, with the willingness to be flexible and adaptable
Qualifications:
- CPA designation
- Minimum 5 years experience in the accounting/Finance field
- Experience with Sage300 preferred
- Accounting firm experience preferred
- Strong MS Office (specifically MS Excel) skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage staff remotely
