Plant Supervisor - New Westminster, Canada - Merlin Plastics Supply Inc

Overview:
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operations within the recycling plant, ensuring efficient and safe processing of materials.
This role involves managing a team of operators, maintenance personnel, and administrative staff, while also coordinating with suppliers and clients to meet production targets and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities, including material sorting, processing, and packaging, to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor production metrics and adjust workflow as needed to meet production targets and quality specifications.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure all machinery, including conveyors, shredders, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, are properly maintained and in good working condition.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to address any equipment breakdowns or malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team of operators, technicians, and administrative staff to optimize performance and productivity.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge within the team.
Quality Control:
- Implement quality control measures to ensure materials are processed according to industry standards and client specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues promptly.
Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure adequate supply and meet production demands.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and minimize stock outs.
Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits related to recycling operations.
- Implement sustainability initiatives to minimize environmental impact and promote recycling best practices.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets, including labor, maintenance, and operational expenses.
- Identify costsaving opportunities and implement efficiency improvements to optimize plant performance.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to address concerns, resolve issues, and foster positive relationships.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and promote the plant's services.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the recycling or manufacturing industry.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate teams.
- Knowledge of recycling processes and equipment, including conveyors, shredders, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in computer software for data analysis and reporting.
