As British Columbia's flagship convention centre, we host more than 500 events each year and welcomes hundreds of thousands of global attendees to premier conferences, trade shows, banquets and more.

We are currently searching for a full-time Logistic Coordinator to join our team.

The Logistics Coordinator coordinates activities in the VCC loading docks, comprised of two diverse access points and truck routes and 27 loading bays.

The loading docks provide essential access for event move-in & move-out and serve as the delivery point for venue deliveries and retail tenants.


WORKING HOURS:

This role operates on a compressed work week of four days, consisting of 10-hour shifts (4-day, 40h work week). The work schedule includes a weekend day with work hours being set based on event requirements.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Coordinate and administer daily loading dock operations, including assignment of loading bays, tracking deliveries, and reviewing and completing logistics work orders;
  • Work with internal teams and external logistics to support operations and ensure handovers;
  • Act as receiver for all Pavco deliveries at the VCC, ensuring the efficient and accurate receipt and processing of all goods and equipment, including inspection, verification, purchase order receiving, storage/tracking of these items, and liaising with the Procurement team;
  • Oversee event cages and the reclaim room;
  • Administer the Voyage Control Logistics Management system to manage all loading dock access and capacity, and to provide to security staff;
  • Manage and represent multiple moveins and outs in collaboration with clients & suppliers, ensuring operational requirements are set and that adequate coverage is provided by event security;
  • Monitor loading dock integrity and condition, including reporting damage to fit and finish, operation of equipment, cleanliness, unauthorized dumping, and pest management;
  • Ensure safety regulations are adhered to, including emergency exiting pathways, implementing safety zones, enforcing maximum capacities, and use of PPE, and maintain a detailed and published log of activities during each shift;
  • Assign and enforce onsite parking regulations for clients, contractors, suppliers & staff;
  • Act as liaison with retail tenants delivery suppliers, display company logistics staff, and inhouse supplier contacts for daily loading dock operations;
  • Monitor CCTV systems of the loading dock to identify potential threats to safety and security.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:


  • High school graduation or equivalent, some coursework in event management and/or security would be an asset;
  • Completion of Incident Command Levels 100 and 200 or equivalent is an asset;
  • 35 years of experience with receiving, inventory control, and loading dock operations preferred;
  • Experience within the events industry or venue operations is an asset;
  • Experience in public safety, emergency response, client relations, and logistics is preferred;
  • Strong awareness of security operations, including CCTV, Access Control and Life Safety Systems;
  • Comfortable with using a broad range of communications styles; able to choose appropriate, effective ways to communicate to different audiences in diverse situations;
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and problems before they arise and competence to find the best solution for issues;
  • Mentally and physically able to deal with assigned tasks, including exposure to a noisy and dusty indoor and outdoor environment, fumes and seasonal heat and cold, extended periods of standing and bending, and lifting over 30 pounds.
