Your role
CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for 2 individuals to join the Production and Resources team in Ottawa.

As the Technical Producer, you will plan and determine television, radio and web production needs, ensure the effective utilization of resources assigned to you and the sound performance of CBC/Radio-Canada operations (camera/editing), mobiles and post-production facilities you are responsible for, based on corporate and industry standards.


  • You will guide and advise production, programs and management teams on resource use and opportunities. Within the scope of assigned resources, you will validate human resource needs, allocate workrelated tasks among team employees, including schedule planning based on employee relationships and respective skills, and existing collective agreements. Within an established framework, you will plan the use of production resources (inhouse or external) for all media lines and determine material resource requirements. Plan and supervise editing and the use of production resources, including the CBC/Radio-Canada area, studios, control rooms, mobiles and postproduction facilities and ensure compliance with technicalquality and occupationalsafety standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Occasionally, you will coordinate the work of other employees assigned to a specific event. Within the scope of various special projects or installation work, you will coordinate the work carried out by production departments with that performed by other areas (Engineering, Real Estate, Design), whether work is completed by inhouse or outside personnel.
  • You will manage budgets for special technical resources (lighting or sound effect devices, etc.). Prepare summaries, financial estimates or studies as well as make recommendations relating to ordinary and special capital expenditures.
  • In this position, you may be required to work long hours, travel from time to time. You may be assigned to a rotating schedule (evenings and/or weekends) depending on production needs.
  • A college diploma in media arts and technologies or equivalent is required. 5 years experience in television production.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise manner when dealing with all levels of crew, management and production.
  • General knowledge of all CBC/Radio-Canada media sectors.
  • Experience working with English

- and French-language media.
  • Editorial judgment, and a keen interest in national, international public affairs and current events.
  • Requires a broad, varied knowledge of production methods, technical equipment, as well as production processes and trades.
  • Must possess the skills required to supervise technical production teams and activities ranging in complexity from average to very high. Must be able to match personnel to production requirements, problem solve and mediate disputes.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource corporate policy and collective agreements an asset.
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, with specific knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Must possess a sound working knowledge of computers and data transfer technologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong judgment, initiative and problemsolving skills.
  • Able to work in an environment where team spirit is essential. Able to maintain harmonious interpersonal relations with the various work groups that make up the team.
