As the
HR CONSULTANT, ERGONOMICS, you will provide leadership, expertise and consultation services to City divisions and employees in matters of ergonomics, employment accommodation and occupational health and safety.

Recommendations**You will provide consultations to support employee return-to-work plans and/or accommodations based on functional restrictions or musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). Your role will also call upon you to conduct office/non-office workplace assessments, job matching reviews, job coaching sessions and product trials. You may assist in the completion of Job Demands Analyses (JDAs) using City-specific protocol and a computerized database system.


Injury Prevention & Multi-Disciplinary Projects**
Education & Improved Ergonomics Program**As an Ergonomics Consultant, you will lead effective ergonomics education through classroom and online training, tip sheets, web postings, event kiosks and general promotion of MSD prevention.


Enhancing efficiencies and effectiveness, you'll work to continuously improve the City's ergonomics program through the innovative use of technology, streamlined processes and standardized tools.


Key Qualifications**:


  • Postsecondary degree in Ergonomics or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Canadian Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) designation, Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) designation or postgraduate degree in Ergonomics or related field is preferred
  • Experience working in the field of ergonomics
  • Experience with consultation skills at all levels within the organization and demonstrated ability to interact with clients.
  • Valid Class "G" driver's License
  • Ability to work with clients to identify needs and coordinate and manage projects
  • Excellent communication, consultation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with a clear appreciation of corporatewide implications of individual decisions
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, employees, management, and union representatives
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills, as well as the ability to exercise discretion and judgment and work with autonomy
