The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a Student join the
Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials Network (3CTN) team on a short-term, contract basis from May to August 2023.


The student will support the Portfolio & Informatics team and help develop novel reports and analyze data that will be used to identify Canadian clinical trial opportunities.

3CTN is a pan-Canadian initiative to improve the efficiency and quality of academic clinical trials in Canada.

Hosted by the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), the 3CTN Coordinating Centre supports a network of cancer centres across Canada.


Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all of the required doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine and having received the final dose at least 14 days before your employment start date.

The responsibilities include:


  • Complete environmental scans, literature reviews and/or consult clinical research teams as needed to guide the completion of project activities.
  • Enter data into a Clinical Trials Management System database of cancer clinical trials.
  • Review cancer clinical trials information and develop reports that will enable identification of available clinical trials as well as research gaps and opportunities within a given cancer type.
  • Ensure report development considers agile, efficient and sustainable process required for report content management and data integrity.
  • Develop presentation materials and participate in knowledge translation and exchange activities relating to reports with 3CTN members and external stakeholders.
  • Support the 3CTN Portfolio & Metrics team as needed to ensure trial data accuracy and integrity.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Portfolio Informatics Manager or Manager, Operations.
  • Master's degree in a science related discipline preferred.
  • Strong interest in oncology clinical research.
  • Strong written and oral communications, time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and a broad range of 3CTN stakeholders, including clinical research professionals, trial sponsors and patient advocacy groups.
  • Highlevel proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with a strong knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP preferred.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Power BI, or similar data informatics reporting tool, would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

This role is partially funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program of the Government of Canada. Applicants must be eligible for funding through this program.
