Reporting to the Superintendent, the Operations Coordinator is responsible for supervising and directing all site operations and is accountable for the performance and results of the operations team.


This is a leadership role which requires adherence to Cenovus policies, procedures, values, regulatory compliance, and operational integrity program while modelling Cenovus' organizational culture.


This role requires an individual who demonstrates clear and concise communication skills, strong leadership skills, excellent organizational skills and who can function in a demanding and busy working environment.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership to effectively manage workforce and maximize team effectiveness. Coach and mentor direct and indirect reports and provide regular feedback through oneonone meetings, observations in the workplace, and in meetings.
  • Ensure that all facility operation activities are carried out in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner. Responsible to ensure the facility's operation is following all health, safety and environmental laws and regulations. Accountable to ensure all facility inspections, audits and exercises are completed.
  • Provide customer support relative to shipments of retail asphalt and emulsions. This includes emulsion manufacturing and timely delivery of products. Effective communication with customers and other internal stakeholders is required.
  • Manage inventory and shipping documentation ensure proper inventories of all raw materials, intermediate and finished products required to meet customer demands.
  • Ensure quality control tests and procedures are followed.
  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Engineering and construction groups identify equipment and system deficiencies and support scheduled work and outages as required.
  • Promote and lead Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS) initiatives on site
  • Support operational KPI's

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 4th class power engineering certification is required, 3rd class or higher is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years' operational experience in an industrial environment (ie oil and gas, refining, manufacturing, power generation etc.)
  • The following would be considered an asset:
  • asphalt operations experience
- oil & Gas operations experience
- fluid handling operation experience
- boiler/steam plant operator experience

  • Supervisory experience
  • Post secondary technical training or trades certification
  • SAP experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience with safety management systems, practices, regulations and standards
  • A valid class 5 driver's license is required.
