Position Summary - Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs and Communications and working collaboratively with the Public Affairs team, the Multi-Media Specialist is responsible for writing, creating and editing content and concepts which tell the NIC story, bringing awareness of NIC's role in the community, in support of NIC's strategic initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities
- 1. Supports NIC's brand identity by developing related content
- 2. Creates and maintains content for NIC communication channels, guided by NIC's strategic plan.
- 3. Works as part of a team to maximize NIC exposure in all media channels.
- 4. Responsible for accurate representation of the facts and ensures accuracy and appropriateness of materials, by maintaining editorial integrity.
- 5. Interviews and reports on events, in support of the NIC brand and strategic initiatives.
- 6. Understands news principles and news worthiness.
- 7. Applies technical knowledge and ability to create content for use in a wide range of media; including online, publications, print, outdoor, video, sponsorship, events and corporate communications, and other mediums as and when developed.
- 8. Develops strong materials to support NIC' advocacy and communication goals.
- 9. Maintains close contact with NIC students, faculty, alumni, employees, community partners and communities in collaboration with NIC colleagues.
- 11. Implements new content initiatives
- 12. Considers the strengths weaknesses of public affairs and communications activities and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
- 13. Maintains and adheres to CP Style guidelines and NICrelated style guides, editing and guiding the writing of others in a collaborative and respectful fashion.
- 14. Manages projects and multiple tasks with mínimal supervision.
- 15. Adheres to agreed project deadlines and budgets and prioritizes workload to achieve them.
- 16. Researches independently and contributes as a team member on solutions to collegewide communication needs.
- 17. Ensures ongoing professional development of knowledge and ability, through selfdevelopment, sharing of best communication practices, and participating in activities in support of the development of the College, via collaboration on collective projects.
- 18. Recommends software and hardware technology needed to support their work.
- 19. Performs additional responsibilities and duties as delegated by the Director of Public Affairs and Communications.
Required Education & Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Business, Marketing, Journalism or English.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a writing or reporting position, preferably in the media Communications or Marketing department of a postsecondary institution.
- Technical writing ability, video, photography and social media skills.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- 1. Exceptional writing skills with the ability to write and edit for multiple genres (marketing, journalism, public relations, technical, social media and more).
- Proven ability to speak to the hearts and minds of unique audiences through a current and quality portfolio.
- Ability to identify an audience and create a compelling case that transforms interest to action.
- Strong command of communications fundamentals evidenced in experience gained.
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit original copy and layout in preparation for publication.
- Strong analytical ability and scrupulous attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand information.
- Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours such as active listening, collaboration, balanced participation, and contributing to shared team goals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently paying close attention to detail and deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and richness of content.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment and diplomacy.
- Proven project management skills.
- Intermediate graphic design skills and proficiency in Adobe Creativ
