Job Summary:


The Foreperson is responsible for the scheduling and coordinating of employees and resources in order to execute the schedule as outlined by the Superintendent and Project Manager(s).


Main Responsibilities:

The Foreperson is responsible for a variety of functions, including but not limited to:


Safety:


  • Positively participate in and educate others on Goal Zero and CI team initiatives.
  • Daily PSCs and weekly tailgate talks.
  • Safety incident, damaged equipment, & near miss reports submitted.
  • Incident investigation & corrective action creation and enforcement.
  • Initiate incident investigations and followup corrective actions.
  • Organizing applicable site orientations.
  • NSC pre
- & post-trip documentation.


Human Resources:


  • Hiring, promotions, and raises of field personnel.
  • Employee relations coaching, disciplinary, & termination conversations.
  • Crew level vacation tracking.
  • Complete time cards & personnel scheduling.

Project Execution:


  • Equipment moves and repair requests.
  • Submitting quantities & asphalt/aggregate ticket organizing.
  • Management of material yield.
  • Following city compliance specs (and communication to the city).
  • Daily productivities meeting the construction schedule.
  • Order specialized materials.

Competencies:


  • Lead teams in multiple locations
  • Proficient & professional communicator
  • Navigate iPad, iPhone & mobile apps
  • Problemsolving skills
  • Meet deadlines: plan & organize
  • Attention to detail

Knowledge & Certifications:


  • 5 years of base experience
  • 13 years of Supervisory experience is considered an asset
  • City of Edmonton road specifications
  • Blueprint reading & comprehension
  • English language: intermediate comprehension written & verbal
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • First Aid
  • WHMIS & RSTS
  • Ground Disturbance Level 2

Working Conditions:


  • Shift hours typically 12 hours/day Monday-Saturday (up to 16 hours/day).
  • Weekends and nights required.
  • Outdoors, inclement weather.
  • Working in & around live traffic.
  • Physical demands: shoveling, heavy lifting, crouching, on feet for long hours.
  • Exposures: noise, dust, fumes, and other Workplace Hazardous Materials
  • Comply with Company D&A policy
