Public Relations Account Director - Toronto, Canada - NKPR

We are looking for aPublic Relations Account Director to join our team in the Toronto office.
The
Account Director will be responsible for championing the objectives of the agency, leading by example and delivering successful communications programs within budget for NKPR and NKPR's clients.
You'll lead a portfolio of accounts, nurturing client relationships and stretching your creative muscles to build and execute strategic PR programs according to the clients' business objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic counsel/guidance to clients, President and team members
- For your portfolio of accounts, manage client relationships, strategy development, budget management, media relations, event planning, etc.
- Keep abreast and accountable for account activity and results and understand impact on client's overall business challenge team to switch gears where needed to ensure client satisfaction and retention;
- Manage all budgets and expenditures for accounts liaising with operations and accounting and adhering to agency accounting procedures;
- Manage all hours for accounts working with operations to determine best breakdown for each account;
- Oversee weekly account planning with team managing time, priorities and results;
- Stay on top of industry trends and bring forward new ideas where it makes sense within client programs/ share information with other team members;
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship to junior team members challenging team to deliver best work, and be creative;
- Jump in to get hands dirty when needed to help the junior team;
- Participate in performance review process for colleagues and manage performance review process for assigned team members;
- Participate in hiring activities as required;
- Contribute to discussions regarding staffing, process improvement, etc.;
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 78 years of public relations agency experience
- Postsecondary degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field
- Proven track record building and executing successful public relations strategies at both a local and national level
- Excellent client management and relationship skills
- Proven experience managing and motivating teams towards a common goal, and fostering collaborative and inclusive team culture
- Strong writing skills (must be able to write errorfree and grammatically correct press releases, media pitches, social content, client communication, etc. )
- Expert problem solver, creative thinker, who challenges the norm and pushes boundaries of PR to deliver results
- Highly, organized, with strong time and project management skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and handson approach willing to jump in where needed
- Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to quick turnarounds
