The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health centre integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

GH-CCMH is also a core service provider within the Toronto region of Child and Youth Community Mental Health Providers.

As such, the Centre has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality evidence-informed care offering a range of services from prevention and early intervention through counselling and therapy, assessment and intensive supports.

Services are provided in both in-person and virtual formats.

The Research Scientist will work hand-in-hand with GH-CCMH Clinician-Scientist (Dr. Amanda Uliaszek, University of Toronto) to contribute to both the clinical and research productivity of the organization and the overall mental health strategy at SickKids and GH-CCMH. The successful applicant will be a primary figure in building a productive clinical research and evaluation program that reflects interprofessional collaboration; the Research Scientist will be fully integrated with clinical treatment services for child and youth and will ensure that clinical interventions and measurement of their effectiveness are embedded in the model of care. The capacity to collaborate with colleagues and engage in co-design of projects with youth and caregivers is a commitment of GH-CCMH and an expectation of the role.
This full-time role includes flexible work hours, as well as opportunities for both in-person and remote work.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in leading a productive clinical research and program evaluation program that is fully integrated with clinical services
  • Supervise a team consisting of research coordinator(s), research assistants, volunteers, and peer researchers.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of evidencebased treatment services, including measurementbased care protocols and strategies.
  • Ensure that clinical interventions and measurement of their effectiveness are embedded in the model of care
  • Support knowledge translation and other academic activities, including writing research grants, manuscripts, and presenting at conferences.
  • Collaborate with external scientists to include GH-CCMH in multisite, highlevel research initiatives.
  • Comply with all policies and reporting expectations defined by SickKids CCMH.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:


  • A Ph.
D. in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health, Nursing, or a related social science or health field

  • Experience with clinical research design, methodology and the capacity to adapt interventions for children, youth and families
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies working collaboratively with interprofessional teams
  • Demonstrated skills in leading a productive research team
  • Demonstrated capacity for establishing clinical and research collaborations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highlevel statistical competence
