Reporting to the Manager of Patient Access, the Patient Access Clerk is responsible for the hospital's bed management function, including accurate and timely processing, documentation and communication of the assignment of a hospital bed to patient admissions and transfers.

The Patient Access Clerk is also responsible for all elective bookings, census, prompt answering of One Number calls and coordinating repatriations.

They also schedule, preregister and check in inpatients and outpatients as well as update patient information.


Permanent Part-Time:

Rate of Pay:
$26.44 per hour - $28.63 per hour

Hours of Work:
Up to 22 hours per week


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a health care office assistant certificate, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital.
  • Minimum one (1) year recent, related Hospital experience
  • Recent related hospital experience
  • Mandatory
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement
  • Proficient knowledge of hospital admission process
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Value
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:


  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
