Accountable for the coordination, development, integration and consolidation of business plans, preparation of operational plans and budgets, investment plans and the maintenance of the Khalix system plan.
Responsibilities:
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Officer, Financial Analysis and Forecasting.
- Initiate, input and develop work on all aspects of the different planning cycles including financial fiveyear Corporate Plan and oneyear operating plans.
- Analyze budget estimates from the point of view of expenditure history for given accounts, responsibility centres and projects, and provide recommendations for allocation of funds.
- Develop, schedule and perform the analytical and modeling activities required to formulate plans and forecasts in conjunction with Corporate and Functional requirements. Review all planning elements and compare to previous years actuals and/or forecast. Perform trend analysis to determine how certain costs behaved over time.
- Develop, document and implement process requirements for financial planning, forecasting and reporting.
- Maintain the functional component of the Corporate Planning system (Khalix) and balance to Corporate operating and investment targets during the fiscal year.
Job Responsibilities (continued):
- Coordinate and review the period functional forecasts and provide advice to management on variances to Corporate target. Download and consolidate monthly and yeartodate data from the General Ledger, LMIS and Mainframe. Develop, maintain and support initiative reporting through the use of Cost Accumulation Codes. Identify items that are significantly off track, seek explanations and corrective action.
- Develop, maintain and provide the monthly analysis package within published deadlines. Ensure all significant functional variances are identified and explained with recovery plans and annual impacts.
- Develop and provide any special purpose reports and adhoc reporting that may be required.
- Liaise with functional representatives on all financial policies and ensure sound financial accounting policy, information consistency and integrity is reflected in current functional practices.
Qualifications:
Education
- Completion of postsecondary (College/University) courses in a related field
Experience
- 13 years of related work experience is required.
- Enrollment in specific designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions in Finance (including Accounting and Payroll).
