Should this temporary vacancy be filled by a regular full-time employee, seniority and benefits will continue in the normal manner and the regular employee will continue to maintain normal, full-time status for the duration of the appointment.

Job Description:

***:Under the direct supervision of the Manager Accounting, is responsible for the municipal banking process including bank reconciliations and bank transfers, scheduling, maintaining the municipal cash flow needs, investment statement reconciliation, and accounting duties.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for the municipal banking process including reconciliation of general, reserve, and trust fund bank accounts, bank transfers, safekeeping of records, and other banking duties.
  • Acts as coadministrator of the Corporation's electronic webbased banking solutions; assigns, monitors, and maintains security access and rights and provides technical guidance to users.
  • Schedules and maintains municipal cash flow needs, and transfers surplus funds to the Corporation's investment managers for investment.
  • Performs monthly investment statement reconciliations.
  • Assists in the reconciliation of revenue reports to bank deposit records.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to Municipal staff as it relates to banking transactions.
  • Performs general accounting responsibilities.
  • Seeks opportunities to identify improvements and efficiencies relating to the Corporation's banking and investment processes.
  • Liaises with the Corporation's banking service representatives, investment advisors, and investment management staff as required.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Experience:


  • Degree or diploma in business administration majoring in accounting or professional accounting designation; and
  • One to three years of municipal accounting experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills/Abilities:


  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under limited guidance and exercise independent judgment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Highly selfmotivated and directed
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Proven problem solving, analytical, and time management skills
  • Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and an advanced skill level in spreadsheet software

Assets:


  • Experience in the banking or money market field is desirable
  • Experience with SAP software is desirable

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:


  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
