    Position Overview
  • The position may also involve indepth research and analysis on planning and development related special projects and formulation of policy recommendations.

In this role you will:

  • Guide complex development proposals through the municipal approval process.
  • Tasks include: reviewing and coordinating the work of professional and/or technical staff or outside agencies; interacting with the public and elected officials; problem solving to ensure timely and effective processing; presenting to various committees, including Mayor and Council; and participating in community and other related meetings to provide advice, information, and to explain policies and procedures related to projects.
  • Exercise your creative and strategic thinking to facilitate housing and job space delivery while safeguarding public and community interests.
  • Work collaboratively and constructively with internal and external partners to serve the collective goal of a sustainable and equitable future for the District.

Qualifications

  • Development planning experience which includes an understanding of planning, architectural and legal best practices applicable to a range of mixeduse and medium to high density developments including the implementation of sustainable development principles, community engagement, and project management.
  • You excel in a team environment and have excellent leadership, customer service, time management and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience and competency in conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation.
  • A University Degree in Urban Planning, or a related discipline supplemented by a post graduate degree in Community or Regional Planning with considerable municipal experience of processing progressively complex development proposals. You are a member or eligible for membership in either the PIBC or CIP.

The pay range for this unionized position is $ $57.59 per hour.
