Founded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies in Ottawa and a registered charity.

It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelter, community, health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the Ottawa area, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at‐risk individuals aged 12+ and their families every month.

YSB employs 350 caring professionals in a unionized environment in over 26 locations across Ottawa.


Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Coordinator is responsible for the overall functioning and operation of the YFCS program in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Youth Services Bureau.


Principal Duties:


Staff & Program Related

  • Adhere to Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) system requirements
  • Adhere to Feedback Informed Treatment Approach principles and requirements
  • Oversee and ensure the smooth daytoday operations of the program including the delegation of and coordination of essential daily activities.
  • Provide individual and group supervision on a monthly and weekly basis or as required
  • Facilitate program staff meetings to assess program and client needs/outcomes
  • Support the effective recruitment, orientation, evaluation & training of (CAPA) personnel and student placement as assigned by Director/Assistant director
  • Ensure completion of annual employee performance review and work plan for assigned staff
  • Ensure timely preparation of staff schedules
  • Coordinate all assigned project activities
  • Participate in and or deliver public education on program services & issues related to youth mental health
  • Liaise with other services within YSB and within the community and participate in meetings as required
  • Contribute to program evaluation & service development including the identification of trends with program area
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance activities and reports and participate in research activities as required.
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed as established by the YSB and the Program
  • Ensure compliance with Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Policies, Collective Agreement and relevant legislation
  • Regularly scheduled, or periodical on call services may be required
  • Coordinate distribution of marketing materials to clients, partner agencies and community
  • Support Staff use of the Feedback Informed Treatment tools and monitor clinical files.

Clinical/Client:


  • Oversee and monitor staff's creation and implementation of case management, treatment or re
- integration plans and follow up services

  • Provide direct clinical services to clients as required including admission/discharge planning
  • Oversee Imminent Risk Assessments and ensure proper safety plans and follow up plans are in place
  • Provide direct clinical services

Central Services/Administration:


  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed on time and in accordance with program & YSB policies, including preparation of schedules, shift summaries, discrepancy reports, submission of payroll and approvals of time off requests and data entry
  • Prepare reports & statistical report documentation or other reports as required by director or program funders
  • Ensure both electronic and physical files are maintained and current within established guidelines
  • Participate in the selection of staff with Human Resources
  • Support the administration of budget & be accountable for spending
  • Prepare for licensing and accreditation as required
  • Maintain petty cash and bus ticket supply for program/client needs
  • Maintain inventory supplies
  • Maintain physical plant and equipment

Job Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work/Counselling Psychology or relevant field is essential Membership in good standing with a college authorized to practice Psychotherapy; RP's grandparented into CRPO will be considered
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a related Mental Health case management and/or counselling with families and youth
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role in a related setting or field
  • Demonstrated ability to assess need for multidisciplinary support or other resources
  • Knowledge of ministries, guidelines, legislations, regulations a
