    Position Overview
-
The successful applicant will have:

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, procedures and practices involved in parks construction, maintenance, infrastructure and asset management.
  • Considerable knowledge of the regulations, policies, bylaws and objectives related to the work.
  • Considerable experience in budget management, contract management, project management and construction management.
  • Considerable experience coordinating inspections, developing and maintaining inspection records, and collecting asset condition and inventory data.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, and management skills within an environment of unionized and exempt staff.
  • Strong decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and oral, including preparing technical reports and delivering presentations.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing relationships and working collaboratively with a wide variety of diverse stakeholders, elected officials, all levels of government, First Nations, and nongovernmental organizations.
  • Thorough working knowledge of occupational health and safety, human resources and labour relations practices and procedures; preferably within a unionized environment within the public sector.

Qualifications:


  • You have graduated from a recognized university with a degree in Parks Administration, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline. You have a minimum of 7 years related experience, which includes progressively responsible supervisory and leadership experience; preferably within a municipal parks context. You are registered or eligible for registration with a related professional association such as, the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects (BCSLA), Planning Institute of BC (PIBC), or Engineers & Geoscientists BC and have a valid BC driver's license. Formal training in Project Management, Contract Management, Construction Management, Asset Management and/or other related discipline is required; certification is preferred.
