We are actively looking to fill the following full time role at McCreedy Mine located in Sudbury Ontario.

Scope of the Role

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist technical services group in search for new ore: analyses all available geological data to determine ore potential; recommends plans and monitors definition/expansion drill programs;
  • Assists in mine planning process presenting all necessary plans and sections illustrating all pertinent features; analyses and discusses workplace information required for short and long term planning;
  • Conducts specialized geological projects; applies theoretical and practical knowledge to analyses and solution of specific problems;
  • Ensures effective grade control by independently determining and monitoring disposition of ore and rock, optimizing ore recovery with minimum dilution;
  • Responsible for the analytical content of the drillhole database and the commercial settlement database;
  • Metals Accounting and Geological Database management, QAQC tracking and reporting;
  • Report and address irregularities in QAQC for site staff and 3rd Party lab;
  • Routinely seeks opportunities to optimize processes with the aim of growing the business unit.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in a mining environment is preferable;
  • BSc Geology or equivalent;
  • P.Geo Designation is preferred, or actively working toward attaining their designation;
  • Valid driver's license required;
  • Geological mapping and interpretation;
  • Proficient with MS Office suite;
  • Medium to advanced level of 3D geological software (Datamine preferred);
  • Working knowledge of the Datamine GDMS Fusion Suite of Software is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Computer drafting skills (MineCAD preferred);
  • Strong communication skills (English);
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety, including zero harm, and mining best practices;
  • First Aid training is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision.
  • Sudbury geology related experience/knowledge is an asset.
  • Supervision and support of diamond drill campaigns.
