This position will be located in the following location(s): Joffre Administration - Red Deer, AB

This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

In addition, you will ensure that the project targets are competitive and will work with the project team to ensure execution within the allocated budget and timeline.

The role is expected to be an active member of project teams and will be able to add value by highlighting the concerns to Project Managers and Team Leaders to resolve any resource and budget constraints.


You Will Use Your Expertise To:
Develop project controls plans, cost reports, schedule baseline and project forecasts
Recast project estimates into control budgets
Maintain accurate cost and forecast data
Maintain accurate project schedules and track progression
Facilitate cost and schedule change management to control to established baseline targets

Measure, analyze and predict project performance
Monitor actual costs on a monthly basis, comparing to plan and identifying cost trends
Analyze costs, progress and performance variances
Document and manage changes to project scope, budgets and forecasts
Review cost and schedule performance data provided by Contractors, analyzing variances and identifying trends, risks and opportunities

Participate in regular project team meetings to review actual vs budget expenditures/schedules, as well as resource and cash flow commitments to maintain overall capital plan
Implementation of change management process
Provide project interface with accounting & purchasing functions
Participate in resource planning; develop and maintain project staffing plans
Engage in the review of cost estimates and original budgets (internal and external)
Develop and publish the monthly project controls report

Operate and maintain project controls cost/schedule management systems, tools and data bases

Primavera Schedules

Lead continuous improvement of Project Controls systems, processes and tools
Participate in a discipline network to share best practices
Provide training in the fundamentals of cost/schedule control, cashflow and resource planning, etc.
Support project data and document management improvement initiatives
Steward Project Controls work practices and procedures

Optimize integration of subfunctions:
cost, estimate, schedule and accounting
Ensure compliances to work practices for completeness, consistency and quality
Review end of stage deliverables for completeness and quality


What We Are Looking For:

A post-secondary diploma in a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience; or a minimum of 5-7 years of combined post-secondary technical education and related experience; or a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing discipline or equivalent technological environment
Background in business administration, particularly with a focus on accounting/finance, will be considered an asset
Proficiency in financial project cost control, forecasting and financial analysis.
Understanding of fundamental project management and project controls concepts.
Strong organization, communication, analytical and mathematical skills are essential.

Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and efficiently, with a keen focus on accuracy, attention to detail and goal achievement.

Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint. Experience with SAP S/4 and ARIBA will be considered an asset
