Position Summary
Medical Secretary II, Child Development & Counselling Unit

Your goal in this position is to provide secretarial services in the Child Development & Counselling Unit, as well as providing support to nursing and all inter-departments.

You have excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills. You communicate in a professional telephone manner and interviewing skills.

You are well organized and a self-motivated individual, as well as have the ability to demonstrate and exercise judgement, problem solve and to make decisions and work independently.

This position supports the Hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.

This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.

On a practical level, you will

Work collaboratively to ensure completion of all tasks as assigned

Provide secretarial support to the physicians, inter-departmental team as required including, typing, word processing and filing

Coordinates health records for Senior Assessment Services

Able to work through multiple interruptions

Support and adhere to Hospital policies and procedures.

Manage confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team who are located cross-site

Work collaboratively with multiple departments to support booking of patient care

Able to work in multiple healthcare software systems

Collaborate closely with nursing regarding scheduling patient care and flow


Qualifications:

Completion of Medical Secretary Course at a Community College or equivalent

Two years medical secretarial experience

Experience in dictating preferred

Accurate minimum typing speed of 60 w.p.m. preferred

Proficiency with medical terminology and medical dictaphone typing/word processing an asset

Proficiency with Microsoft including; Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Proficiency in scheduling appointments

Bilingualism in French/English an Asset

This is a Part Time Casual position with 8 hour shifts on an as needed basis in the Child Development & Counselling Unit.
