Essential Duties

  • Analyze compensation trends in the market, conduct salary surveys and benefit reviews, and make recommendations
  • Administer pay equity compliance within each plan, reviewing processes and recommending efficiencies; Evaluate new or changed positions to maintain pay equity within the programs
  • Manage pay equity process for nonunion and union plans; facilitate meetings of the various Joint Job Evaluation Committees; participate as coordinator of the Steering Committees
  • Maintain the corporate documents associated with pay equity to minimize risk; develop and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Prepare final changes; obtain approval from union executive; update charts, plans and schedules; prepare reports to Council, if required
  • Maintain positions in applicable software in support of payroll and budget functions
  • As a member of the team:_
  • Develop and administer procedures and recommend resources to achieve strategic objectives
  • Complete continuous research, analysis of industry trends, issues to remain knowledgeable in own areas of responsibility
  • Manage stakeholder interactions in the supply and receipt information, analysis and resolution of issues
  • Partner with internal process or program owner to share program objectives, analyze gaps, provide advice on actions to be incorporated in other's processes, champion this program or service
  • Manage customer service concerns, investigating, problem solving and responding as appropriate
  • Maintain documentation and or databases and corporate records in accordance with policy and divisional practice; consider legislative requirements such as Pay Equity and MFIPPA
  • Provide data to allow reporting and decision making
  • Procure services and goods related to areas of responsibility
  • Contribute to the development of annual program needs
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Job analysis and job evaluation principles for pay equity compliance
  • Statistical data collection, entry, and analysis using Excel
  • Preparation of accurate job descriptions for multiple uses
  • Willing to participate in ongoing development, training and additional certifications as appropriate for the position
  • Knowledge of the _Pay Equity Act _and any other legislation related to the position
  • Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills; Excellent written communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
  • Demonstrated customer service skills at a level to develop and maintain cooperative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated timemanagement skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and tact and maintain a high degree of confidentiali
