The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice.

The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities.

Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.


About the Opportunity:


The NS Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers within Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPPL) plays a leadership role within the organization in creating a culture of learning with a focus on transition to specialty practice programs, entry-level transition to practice, interprofessional practice education (IPE) and continuing professional practice development.

The Learning Institute promotes accountable professional practice in quality practice environments, facilitates patient and family centered care, fosters collaborative team relationships and supports research and evidence-based practice.


Reporting directly to the Manager, The Learning Institute for Health Care Providers, Learning and Education Resources with Interprofessional Practice and Learning, the Secretary provides administrative and technology support functions for the development, delivery and evaluation of educational programming at the Learning Institute, which includes but is not limited to preparation of print based and electronic materials, maintenance of databases and learning management systems, and customer relations.

This position supports and works collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 plus graduate of a recognized office administration/business/secretarial program or an equivalent combination of education, training and progressively responsible experience
  • Two years recent and related experience required
  • Medical terminology is an asset
  • Proficiency with word processing and formatting, electronic file management and data entry
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and database management
  • Welldeveloped verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and customer relations skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning/prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite, internet browsers, and Learning Management Systems
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset


Successful Applicants are required to provide a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to Human Resources before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.


Hours of Work:

Long Assignment, Full-Time (70 hours biweekly)
Beginning February 20, 2023 until January 31, 2025.


Salary Information:

$ $23.14 hourly
$37,064 - $42,118 annually
