Preventative Maintenance Technician Level - Night Shift


Battlefield Equipment Rentals (a division of Toromont Industries Ltd.) one of Canada's premiere Construction Rental Companies presently requires a
Preventative Maintenance Technician Level 1 for the
night shift at our
Kingston location.

This fast-paced, team-oriented region places a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.

The service department is an important area of our business, ensuring that our equipment is ready and available as well as maintaining a flow of information on that equipment for both the rental staff and the sales staff, which is critical to the success of our customer relationships.


  • Complete cleaning, washing and routine maintenance of construction equipment;
  • Complete quality assurance inspections on equipment;
  • Testing and operation of construction equipment, including, but not limited to, assessment of damages;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on construction equipment, including, but not limited to, maintaining and servicing rental equipment, oil and filter changes;
  • Complete required documentation and data entry;
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work area, shop and branch;
  • Load and unload customer rental equipment when required;
  • Assisting other technicians as needed;
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies, while maintaining a safe work environment;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Prior experience in performing failure analysis and repair on all types of construction equipment;
  • Extensive background and knowledge of construction equipment and the necessary parts and services to maintain and repair;
  • Handson experience in troubleshooting and repairs;
  • Existing knowledge of the service/maintenance requirements for all types of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
  • Ability to work independently, skilled in time management and organization;
  • Adaptable to oncall work schedules and willing to work flexible shifts to meet the demands of the business, including afternoon shifts;
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered beneficial);
  • A customercentric and positive attitude; good communication skills;
  • A valid Gclass driver's license and clean driver's abstract is mandatory.

Additional Qualifications

  • Applicant must be able to perform heavy lifting, as heavy lifting will be required frequently;
  • Preference will be given to a 421A Heavy Equipment licensed person.
  • Your own tools are required.
