Your opportunity:


Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Lab Coordinator is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the lab, involving the acquisition of data on cognition and brain response.

The incumbent ensures participants and/or testing rooms are not double booked, forms are available to sign, and payments/participation credits are processed.

Duties include but are not limited to recruiting participants; preparing test materials; scheduling and keeping track of participants' appointments and their compensation; interacting with research assistants about their duties.


The Lab Coordinator is also responsible for general maintenance of the research lab; ensuring supplies are adequately stocked; compiles receipts and forms; reference libraries maintained; lab manuals updated and maintained; files/website updated; back up information weekly; contact departmental computer staff to ensure programs and computers run properly.

Additionally, the incumbent performs other administrative duties such as maintaining a tidy environment, and providing administrative support to PI, assisting with ethics protocols and grants, and assisting graduate students with participant testing and data collating.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Proofing and posting adverts to recruit applicants.
  • Preparing consent forms using templates.
  • Disseminating and collecting research surveys and questionnaires.
  • Generating reports.
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and followup items.
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate.
  • Recording or verifying transactions on a single account.
  • Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices.

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of recent and related experience in a research lab or as a lab coordinator with knowledge of research methodology.
  • Experience with working with participants and collecting data/samples.
  • Experience in trouble shooting various technologies along with website maintenance.
  • Experience interacting with participants and students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills including with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound timemanagement, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet multiple competing deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound judgment and proven ability to work with a team and as a team member.

Assets (Nonessential):


  • Demonstrated knowledge in SPSS, Matlab, EPrime, BrainVoyager, f WordPress preferred.
