Superintendent position located at our Toronto terminal.

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized self-starter to oversee vessel and terminal operations at a busy port terminal.

This is an opportunity for the right person to demonstrate LEADERSHIP SKILLS and AUTONOMY.


Your new responsibilities:


  • Supervise the daily stevedoring and terminal operations;
  • Plan the implementation of vessel and terminal operations;
  • Determine the equipment and labor required for operations;
  • Coordinate and allocate personnel to ensure a safe, positive, and efficient work environment;
  • Maintain accurate and timely paperwork related to the operations;
  • Plan and coordinate stevedoring and terminal activities with warehousing operations to maximize productivity;
  • Supervise the work teams under your responsibility;
  • Enforce health and safety guidelines in the workplace;
  • Ensure that operating procedures are followed and properly communicated;
  • Work with the manager and administration to coordinate with customers, plan shipments, dispatch cargo, ensure on time/accurate deliveries and handle problem situations as needed;
  • Prepare performance reports;
  • Represent the company in various committees (member of safety).

Qualifications:

You have the right qualifications:


  • High School Graduate;
  • Three to five (35) years of experience supervising unionized staff;
  • Forklift and/or loader certification (asset);
  • Mechanical knowledge (asset);
  • Class 5 driving license;
  • Ability to work efficiently in a changing and fastpaced environment;
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills to coordinate efficient teamwork and promote cooperation;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Flexibility regarding work schedules and availability.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
