    This position may be eligible for a Remote Work Arrangement*Performance range: starting salary to max of $111,753 is available through annual performance increases.

    The Administration Manager (AM) provides oversight of the core administrative needs of UVic Alumni & Development, which encompasses diverse specialized teams, as well as the management of A&D's operations to ensure alignment with its mandate, collaboration within the Division of External Relations to support the division's and university's strategic priorities.

    The AM leads the development and implementation of effective administrative processes for financial management, human resources, general operations, procurement, facilities management, major construction initiatives, space planning, workplace safety, environmental and sustainability initiatives for the department's operations primarily in two locations in two buildings (Ian Stewart Complex, MWB)


    This position establishes and helps implement innovative programs and practices to improve the day-to-day and long-term quality and efficiency of all services within the department.

    This includes leading department level initiatives with respect to human resources and employee relations, staff recognition and development, succession planning, and compensation.

    This position advises, counsels and provides authoritative information to the AVP AD, Directors and Managers, and staff ensuring compliance with University policies.

    Remote working arrangements will add to these responsibilities.


    This position is central to the department's operational and strategic success and is a conduit to the VPER administrative team.

    This position oversees/supervises the administrative support team in A&D.

    In addition, this position undertakes special projects as assigned by the AVP.

    A post-secondary degree in Business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    At least 5 years of relevant senior administrative experience preferably in a higher education environment.
    Experience in financial analysis, budget accounting and year-end audit support.
    Experience providing leadership, development, maintenance and implementation of financial and administrative policies and procedures.
    Demonstrated capacity to manage projects, units and/or teams to produce desired outcomes.
    Experience of human resources administration.

    Has a good understanding of the institution's governance and administrative structures and the roles of senior executive, academic administrators and faculty within these structures.

    Experience in planning, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of information and other systems in an office environment.
    Strong numeracy and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple budgetary and procedural projects.
    Able to successfully manage multiple critical deadlines in an intense work environment using time management techniques including computer technology.

    Knowledge of best practices in managing a work group and developing office procedures.

    Demonstrates a clear understanding of issues and policies related to confidentiality, security and privacy to deal successfully with staff relations.

    Plans ahead to ensure unit has human resources capacity to carry out its mission; An ability to interpret policy and procedure; Demonstrated interest in attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy in carrying out responsibilities.

    The office works constantly and directly with the Office of the President, Vice-Presidents, University Secretary, Legal Counsel, Community and Government Relations, UVic Systems, Faculties and units, Research Centres, Student Affairs, Human Resources, as well as the media and the community.
