Description
We're looking for a communications professional with a knack for creative and visual storytelling. For someone as good at communications planning as turning technical concepts into compelling visual and written content. Could this be the role for you?


As part of the Communications team, your communications expertise will support COG's internal and external communications, manage social media, help manage corporate and executive events, and execute multi-faceted communications strategies to build COG's profile as a world-class nuclear collaboration hub.


The incumbent for this role will be responsible for proactively identifying communications opportunities in alignment with our business objectives and developing a variety of content to showcase the impact of COG's people, projects, and programs and to highlight our member and stakeholder successes.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the implementation of COG Communications Strategy. This includes assisting in the development of various program and corporate communications plans and implementing communications tactics or activities required to achieve COG's strategic priorities and objectives.
  • Lead and support multiple communications projects and manage competing priorities. Use project management principles and skills to execute key communications deliverables. Identify potential risks or issues and provide solutionfocused options.
  • Work with senior leaders and colleagues across the business to contribute to building and implementing comprehensive communication plans, ensuring the right message is delivered to the right audience at the right time for maximum effectiveness, and engaging key audience groups through visual storytelling
  • Write, edit, factcheck, format and disseminate a wide variety of communications materials, such as press releases, brochures, articles, speaking notes, key messages, correspondence, fact sheets, externalfacing reports and thought leadership (e.g. Quarterly Reports), presentations, website, and social media content, ensuring materials are accurate, onbrand, and uptodate on an ongoing basis
  • Establish and manage deliverables through internal editorial and communications review/ approval processes, including compliance requirements such as AODA and CASL
  • Assist with measuring, evaluating, and optimizing communication effectiveness and reporting results to stakeholders
  • Keep informed of nuclear industryrelated information and developments and identify opportunities for key corporate messages, events, and news items to be rolled into various communications materials
  • Support execution of internal communications strategy including intranet refresh, employee newsletter, town halls, internal communications calendar, etc. to foster engagement and a positive, collaborative culture
  • Adhere to all defined COG processes and policies, including sponsorship, accounting, procurement, and HR driven requirements
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills, including excellent attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with nuclear industry.
  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills and resourcefulness along with critical thinking and solutionfocused problem solving skills.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in strategic communications planning in a multistakeholder environment.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced environment with multiple projects and priorities and the ability to adapt to changing situations and flexibility.
  • Fluent in English required; proficiency in other COG member languages is an asset (written and spoken)
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into meaningful narratives and information for a variety of audiences, demonstrated by a strong portfolio of writing samples
  • Strong visual communications skills, including experience developing content and tactics for digital, video, social media, and other technology platforms
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; strong PowerPoint skills with experience developing presentations for senior executives; design tools such as Canva; aptitude to quickly learn new systems, software and programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work successfully with various organizational levels, stakeholders, and people with diverse backgrounds and interests
  • Team player with a strong focus on trying new approaches and delivering results
