In your role as a bookkeeper, reporting directly to the Controller, you will be responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, other book-keeping tasks and administrative tasks.

You will work closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller and other internal stakeholders while working occasionally with customers, contractors, suppliers and other project partners.

Practically speaking, here's what you'll do on a day-to-day basis


Accounts Receivable:


  • Complete daily reports
  • Process account payments and post receipts
  • Maintain current notes in Sage regarding customers status for customer service team
  • Notify and process scheduled weekly and monthly credit card payments for customers
  • Complete bank deposits as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned.

Accounts Payable:


  • Enter payable invoices/expenses
  • File invoices to be paid and maintain payment files
  • Prepare weekly payment file:
  • Print cheques
  • Categorize remaining payments for Controller
  • Pay vendors with visa payments
  • Review supplier statements to ensure all payments have been posted and all invoices received

Admin:


  • Complete trade credit references for customers when requested
  • File paid invoices, bank deposits, visa receipts, etc
  • Run quarterly WSIB Clearance Certificate on contractors as appropriate.
  • Monitor hourly employee hours through time clock and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare biweekly reports for payroll
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned
The Right Fit
Perhaps you have worked in a bookkeeping role for several years and are looking for a change.

Or maybe you have experience in bookkeeping within a trades or building field and are looking for a different challenge.

You have a Bookkeeping Certificate or Business Administration Diploma degree with an emphasis on accounting. Perhaps you are working on your CPB Canada or are already a member. You have worked in Excel and Sage and are detail orientated in this. Wherever you come from, you'll be a great fit if you possess the following characteristics.

  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Handson experience with excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to connect and build a rapport with clients, suppliers and other contacts within the role
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Driven by a sense of urgency, initiative and desire to get things done quickly and accurately

Qualifications:


  • Canadian College Certificate in Bookkeeping
  • 2 years or more in a bookkeeping role
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Sage with experience in Salesforce as an asset.
  • It would be beneficial if you have worked in a Trade's environment.

Typically, you'll work Monday to Friday from 8-4 pm during the busy season with shorter days during the winter months.

While we are hiring a fulltime employee, we are open to a 4 day work week with the option of increasing to a 5 day work week in the future.
