Supportive Housing Worker - Housing Services (Full Time Permanent)**:


The Role and Opportunity:


The Canadian Mental Health Association is looking for a
Supportive Housing Worker weekday shift (8am-4pm) for our dedicated housing site in the Lawrence Rd West and Weston Rd area.
This position will be an extension of the services offered through the CMHA Housing Services.
Onsite support will be provided to individuals living with mental illness, who are homeless and who have been involved with the criminal justice system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct service provided in respectful and supportive interactions with service users during social recreational programming, crisis and conflict resolution, and general support as required.
  • Assessment of clients Mental Health state in determination of when to reach out to EMS and Police personnel's when on site in a state of crisis
  • Perform onsite duties to maintain a safe, clean and secure environment
  • Daily documentation on client contact and concerns related to the residential site
  • Provide program assistance with notices, unit inspections, social programing and tenant meetings
  • Liaise with Housing and Support staff in coordination of clients move in and move outs
  • Pick up Food Bank on Thursdays from dedicated sites.
  • Provide oversight and collaboration with 86Rosemount client, staff and case workers while on shift in staffs absence
  • Able to work independently and as a team when providing communication of various concerns observed with clients and possible impacts on their housing.
  • Carry out duties as an Agent of the Landlord

SKILLS YOU BRING

  • Minimum College Diploma education in Social Work/Social Sciences
  • Strong communication skills with clients and staff
  • 2 years' experience providing service to individuals living with a mental health and Justice involvement (residential experience an asset)
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and supportive housing
  • Experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system, concurrent disorders and issues affecting the homeless
  • Understanding of recovery principles as they relate to individuals with mental illness
  • Ability to demonstrate a nonhomophobic, antioppression and antiracism approach
  • Strong crisis intervention skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution along with decision making skills
  • Experience working with diverse communities

Salary:
$54,124 - $62,733
