The Families Matter Society of Calgary strives to promote optimal child development and family resilience by helping caregivers learn about early childhood development, by providing concrete supports in times of need; by helping families build strong relationships, and by creating lasting, supportive social networks among families.

We are looking for a passionate and committed professional to join our organization as an Intake Worker with our Family Resource Network in the Southeast area of Calgary.

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this role is to connect families and community seeking support through Families Matter including the Family Resource Network with the services and resources they need to promote healthy child development; caregiver capacity-building; family resilience; and community connections.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree or diploma in the Human Services field is required with a minimum of 2 years of service to families with young children, including work experience in the following areas:

• Initial screening, assessment, and program referral for families with complex needs
• Ability to provide brief, solutionfocused support to parents
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development and building parenting capacity.
• Knowledge and competence serving diverse families
• Engage and build relationships with partners to have a stronger presence in the community.
• Seek out professional engagement opportunities for continuous improvement and collaboration with community.
• Utilizing a client data base and tracking assessment, referral and outcome information for families served through the Family Resource Network.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Ability to work in a very organized, accurate and detailoriented way.
• Selfdirected, and able to take initiative. Strong knowledge of child and family serving community resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve families and community in the Southeast Calgary Family Resource Network. Connect rural families with relevant agency programs as appropriate.
• Complete initial screenings, assessments and referrals for parents needing supports. Connect them to the most appropriate resources and services to meet their needs.
• Use skills to address identified family concerns and implement brief solutionfocused and strengthbased strategies to support parents calling to or dropping in at the Family Resource Network locations of Families Matter.
• Provide safety planning support to families in distress during the intake process.
• Collect intake and referral information from all agency partners in the Family Resource Network. Collate the information into monthly Nominal Roll reports.
• Maintain best practice, a high quality of service, and ensure that your work is fully compliant with provincial Family Resource Network standards.
• Ensure complete and accurate data entry into the agency's client database.
• Work collaboratively with Calgary Region Children's Services and key community stakeholders to promote and share the work of Families Matter.

Salary range:
$48,000 - $50,000 per year
