Your Opportunity:

The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada's leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada.

The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized adult services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, renal, critical care, burns, transplant and trauma inpatient programs as well as a vast number of ambulatory clinics.

This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program responsible for the adult patient population and will support patients specifically who are within the adult social work team, concentrating services with the cardiac service area, but will also have opportunities to learn and provide services to other clinical areas on the hospital campus as indicated.

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families

Your services may include:

psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience in critical care. Experience working with inpatients and ambulatory patients with chronic disease. Experience working with MS patients preferred. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative partnerships and relationships. Proficiency with Microsoft office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are preferred. Familiarity with Netcare, Connect Care and or principles of electronic documentation are preferred. Master's Degree is an asset.
