Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm


_ THE CHALLENGES WE OFFER_
This person will be responsible for the inventory accuracy and the quality of grains received at our grain elevator. The Grain elevator technician will be involved in various activities including maintenance, logistics and administration.


Responsibilities

GRAIN QUALITY CHECKS

  • Responsible for ensuring proper sampling procedures and for proper sample splitting procedures;
  • Responsible for performing moisture assessment and bushel weights per Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) Standards;
  • Responsible for making sure grains meet Sollio quality requirements (ergot, old, moisture and vomitoxin);
  • Responsible for the operation of the specialized equipment (Delta cleaner and Charm Vomitoxin equipment);
  • Responsible for conducting vomitoxin measurements on various grains.

ORGANIZATION / ADMINISTRATION / LOGISTICS

  • Accurately enter all weights and measures information for inbound and outbound loads onto each ticket and into the NAV system;
  • Ensuring outbounds loads are shipped per Ministry of Transportation guidelines;
  • Executing order logistics for inbound grain shipments (freight);
  • Unload trucks safely and in a timely manner, ensuring truckers are adhering to our safety standards;
  • Providing customer assistance and assisting with answering when required;
  • Participate in safety committee meetings;
  • Keeping the scale room completely neat/clean to avoid slippage or falls from loose grains;
  • Various tasks including snow removal, shovel emergency exits and clean walkways.

_REQUIREMENTS_

  • Team player with a cando attitude;
  • Experience in the agricultural industry is an asset;
  • Ability to lift occasionally up to 25kg;
  • Ability to work in a colder environment (unloading grain trucks in winter);
  • Bobcat or skid steer experience, an asset;
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required;
  • Receptive to learning new skills.
