SAFETY COORDINATOR

Mission

Duties/Tasks

Provide administrative and computer support; maintain client/customer safety databases as required for site entry; ensure worker requirements and information is accurate and completed on time.
Support project personnel (company and subcontractor) with the administration of all HSE policies and procedures and promote good due diligence practices.
Work in close consultation with the Regional Safety Supervisor. Keep them informed of all HSE administration issues that arise, which could impact achieving the goal of zero accidents, create legal liability, and/or affect compliance with company or regulatory requirements.
Assist the management team in continuous HSE improvement through solid leadership and excellent communication.
Provide project incident investigation support, including supporting operations personnel to conduct investigations and review investigation reports to ensure high quality.
Provide support for the management of workplace injuries and compensation claims.
Review HSE Key Performance Indicators (Leading & Lagging), and compile reports for the HSE Manager.
Maintain and audit incident reporting and recordkeeping using the company database software.
Assist with developing health and safety training programs

- safety orientations, incident investigations, chemical spill/transportation, WHMIS, health & safety SOPs, supervisory responsibilities, MSDS education, forklift operation, respirator fit training, specialized equipment, eyewash stations, etc.

Knowledge/Skills

Highly motivated to achieve a high level of performance.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and roles.
Working knowledge of HSE legislation (OHS, Environment, etc.)
Demonstrated organizational, planning, and problemsolving in dynamic, resultsdriven environments
Ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and roles.
Understanding of HSE focused online programs, both internal and external
Team player and able to lead others in achieving program goals
Selfstarter with ability to work with mínimal supervision.

Experience/Education:

At least 13 years construction experience, preferably road construction, including any or all of the following: paving, traffic safety, mobile equipment, readymix plant, asphalt plant, aggregate operations, trenching/excavations, confined space entry, working at heights.
CSO/NCSO is an asset for this position.

Salary:
$20.00-$35.00 per hour
