About the Role

The Saw Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the saw and cutting material stock to the correct length and measurements as per requirements.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our weekend team

Position Details

Position Status: Fulltime
Location: Calgary (NE)

Shift: Friday

Sunday, 6 AM to 6 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

Reading and understanding the specifications on the Manufacturing Order including matching heat numbers and dimensions between the Material Test Report and raw material
Identifying the required cut length measurement and selecting the suitable saw
Measuring and cutting raw steel accurately to ensure the appropriate length requirements from the Manufacturing Order
Regularly operating equipment including forklift, band saw, and rotating saw
Positioning forklift baskets in the correct location
Responsible for ensuring all requirements for shipping are met including securing parts onto a pallet, safely loading the truck, and including the correct information for each order
Operating the rotating saw and understanding its maximum capabilities
Adhering to health and safety protocols including always wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge and previous experience operating a band saw and rotating saw
Possess understanding of basket weight restrictions, equal distribution of load, and safe lifting techniques
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees and supervisors
Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
Must be able to lift heavy parts up to 23 kg (50lbs)
