The City of Edmonton's Waste Services branch is looking for a Performance and Forecast Analyst to join our Waste Data Operations team.

As a performance analyst, you will be responsible for tracking, evaluating and improving branch performance, using data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools.

You will collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and implement performance measurement frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs), and best practices in alignment with the City's Enterprise Performance Management framework.

You will also leverage your analytical expertise in leading branch wide forecasting and predictive analysis projects.

Key highlights of this job portfolio include:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the branch Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) system
  • Work with business units and service owners to define and align performance objectives, KPIs, and targets
  • Lead branch conversations around performance measurement and management, including working with data maintainers to gather and understand trends and impacts, as well as branch leadership to communicate and facilitate plans for performance improvement activities
  • Conduct data analysis, forecasting and reporting on the branch activities, using tools such as Google Sheets, Tableau, Looker, SQL, Python, R, Google Slides and Google Docs
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and scorecards to monitor and communicate performance results and trends
  • Conduct research and benchmarking to identify and adopt best practices and standards for performance management and analytics. Use environmental scanning to identify appropriate external data to augment forecasts and analysis
  • Ensure all key branch data is appropriately collected and warehoused to ensure timely and accurate performance measurement, including managing the Branch Open Data portfolio
  • Promote and ensure branch compliance with Corporate Data Governance and Transparency policies and procedures

Qualifications:


  • University degree preferably in business administration/commerce/finance; public administration, planning or related field. A graduate degree would be considered an asset.
  • A professional designation in finance/accounting, business planning, project management, business analysis, would be an asset.
  • Expert in Performance Measurement and Management Experience in Enterprise Performance Metrics
  • Experienced in assembling and analyzing data from multiple operational systems to establish data history, analyze trends, generate reports and forecasts, and support general ad hoc queries.
  • Understanding of SQL, web analytics, Extract, Transfer Load (ETL), and APIs is an asset
  • Knowledge of Waste Services business processes is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead performance management discussions with senior managers.
  • Strong critical and systems thinking with ability to conduct investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to handle multiple competing priorities
