We are seeking a
Mechanical Planner with our Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group located onsite in Edmonton, AB, requiring 25-45% travel.

This is a diverse group that supports Industrial Gases (IG) North America capital projects, strategic planning, turnaround planning, and turnaround execution.

This allows our team to provide specialized services and additional capacity for infrequent events to operational assets.

Primary Job Responsibilities:


  • Turnaround Mechanical Planner Lead
  • Facilitate training and development of Mechanical Planning team.
  • Drive consistency in planning in P6, work packages, and material by other planners.
  • Field Job Planning
  • Lead assigned portion of outage scope from planning through execution. Scopes will primarily be mechanical but may also include cranes, scaffold, insulation, and logistics.
  • Develop scope for assigned work orders within the outage, identifying secondary and/or support disciplines required.
  • Create job planning packages for each work order/notification that include pictures, P&IDs, BOMs, tools, safe work procedures, applicable standards, QC requirements, etc. to be used both internally and by external parties performing work.
  • Collaborate with team on contract bid package development.
  • Follow Air Products Management of Change process, recognizing plant changes and following through on all documentation and recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Assist in overall turnaround schedule development and vetting.
  • Field Job Execution
  • Provide contractor field management in all outage phases for assigned contractors, including safety, timesheet verification, field oversight, change orders, and QC verification.
  • Provide daily schedule updates during outage execution.
  • Uphold and communicate high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas and on all job sites. Conduct frequent formal housekeeping inspections of plant areas.
  • Complete close out and documentation as required by Air Products standards and procedures.

Performance Standard:


  • Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, following strict fatigue management guidelines. Travel may be required as much as 2545% depending on projects

Required Abilities and Conduct:


  • Able to achieve various state mandated certifications, TWIC, and other requirements as may be deemed necessary.

  • Maintains confidentiality of written and verbal information pertaining to Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., its staff, management and participating onsite affiliates.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with experience
  • 5+ years' experience as a Mechanical Planner.
  • 5+ years' experience in maintenance and/or engineering disciplines, preferably with experience in industrial outages, exchangers, pumps, hydrotesting and pipe fabrication
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, ISO's, piping isometrics, fixed equipment design packages, and pipe specs.
  • Previous experience building execution work packages with detailed work plans including safety matrix, picture, P&ID, isometric, bill of material, etc.
