About the Opportunity
We are looking for full-time freelance
Scriptwriter/Copywriter to work with our team in Kitchener, ON (hybrid).


You will be writing and editing content for a variety of B2B marketing, technical, and corporate communications content for various projects, while working closely with our creative and productions teams to deliver brand-affirming, high-quality content that resonates with our clients and their audiences.


This role requires a genuine passion and talent for writing and editing, as well as the capacity to provide input and take critical feedback.

You will be expected to uphold our clients' creative standards, while continuing to promote creative ideas, and embody Memory Tree's client service spirit.

Your duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing and editing copy for a variety of content (e.g. video scripts, collateral/PDFs, web, social content, etc.) that is consistently effective, error-free, compelling, and clear;
  • Listening to client direction and researching as needed to inform your writing;
  • Ensuring the voice and tone of copy aligns with the client standards, brand identity, and ethos conveying the clients core values, goals and principles through copy;
  • Collaborating with various colleagues, stakeholders, and client departments to ensure production of quality products;
  • Participating in the development of content strategy and tone of voice development;
  • Maintaining awareness of clients' products, services, markets for industry's trends and news to produce relevant content.
  • Representing our team in a positive and professional manner at all times

About You

To qualify, you'll need a minimum of 1 to 3 years of writing experience as part of a creative or media production agency or marketing department working on technical projects. You also possess post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience. Class G driver's license and the ability to travel to locations not served by public transportation are required.

The following skills and experience are also required:

  • Exceptional writing skills in English (i.e. creative, technical, scripts, etc.);
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills in English _(Bilingual in French is considered an asset, but not required)._
  • Experience working with traditional and/or digital communications projects in a creative agency, production company, or internal marketing department;
  • Experience creating copy for a technical audience while staying creative;
  • Experience delivering a highquality first drafts that reflects client, product, and topic specific needs (e.g. personabased messaging, segmentbased messaging, geographic localization, etc.)
  • Experience working with multilanguage translation and/or transcreation is a plus;
  • Selfmotivated mindset able to work well independently and as part of a diverse team;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple concurrent projects;
  • Strong customer service, relationship management, and teamwork skills;
  • Willingness to learn and try new things and remain openminded and coachable;
  • Ability to understand and respond well to feedback and criticism as well as demonstrate collaborative problemsolving skills;
  • Ability to work remotely and in our offices as required, offering your primary time and attention to our projects as needed;
