ABOUT THE TEAM


As a member of PSP Investments' Legal Affairs department and Access to Information and Privacy ("ATIP") Office, the incumbent will, under the direction of the Senior Director, Legal Affairs and in collaboration with the other ATIP professionals, be responsible for activities relating to PSP's compliance with the privacy laws and data protection obligations applicable to its operations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

Support on access to information activities may also be required.


ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As Privacy Counsel, Legal Affairs, you'll:

  • Perform privacy impact and vendor assessments, as required under the Privacy Act (Canada), the GDPR and other privacy laws applicable to PSP in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Process and respond to privacy requests, investigations, complaints and consultations within delay prescribed by law
  • Provide advice and recommendations on privacy requirements for projects involving personal information
  • Review, draft and update privacy policies, procedures, guidelines, notices and other documentation
  • Review, draft and negotiate data protection addendums, data transfer agreements and privacy and security contractual terms for suppliers
  • Lead/support privacy and security breach investigations and reporting internally and externally
  • Monitor, report on and implement new requirements under applicable and new privacy and data protection laws and share relevant information with internal stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver in-house privacy training programs for employees/consultants customized to the needs of different stakeholders and coordinate corporate awareness activities related to privacy
  • Assist on access to information requests, as required
WHAT YOU'LL NEED- Called to the bar in at least one Province in Canada- IAPP or other privacy professional certification will be considered an asset- Minimum of 5 years related experience Interest in, and willingness to learn about, the Access to Information Act (Canada)- Strong interpersonal skills- Excellent written and verbal communications skills- Ability to simplify complex issues and provide practical advice that can be operationalized- Ability to independently set priorities and follow up with relevant parties to meet strict deadlines, while managing a large workload- Sound business judgment, adaptability, and demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues quickly and effectively- Proactive and solution oriented- Finely tuned sense of professionalism and ethics- Respectful and appreciative of diversity- Bilingualism English and French (_Frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa_)
